Acceptance of risk

Please read carefully before booking or participating in any session.

1. Video & Photo Consent

  • During coaching sessions, photos and videos may be taken for the purposes of providing feedback, documenting progress, and creating promotional or educational content for DW MTB Coaching.
  • Footage may be used on social media, the DW MTB Coaching website, or for marketing and coaching resources (including video tutorials for clients).
  • If you do not wish to be included in any photos or videos, please inform Dan Wagstaff before your session begins. Every effort will be made to respect your preference.
  • By booking, you consent to the use of your image and likeness for these purposes unless you have opted out in advance.

2. Acknowledgement of Risk

Mountain biking is an extreme sport with inherent risks, including but not limited to falls, collisions, challenging terrain, adverse weather, equipment failure, and the possibility of serious injury or death. All participants must:

  • Ride within their own ability at all times.
  • Listen to and follow all instructions and safety advice from the coach.
  • Assess each trail and feature before riding; if unsure, walk the section first.
  • Accept that ability levels vary between riders and act with consideration for personal limits.

3. Safety Equipment & Personal Responsibility

  • A helmet is mandatory for all coaching sessions — NO HELMET, NO RIDING.
  • A full-face helmet and additional protective gear (such as gloves, knee/elbow pads, and body armour) are strongly recommended.
  • Each rider is responsible for ensuring their bike and equipment are safe and fit for purpose. An M check is performed before each session, but the final responsibility lies with the rider.
  • Riders are responsible for bringing sufficient food and drink for the duration of the session.

4. Health & Medical Conditions

  • By booking, you confirm that you do not have any medical condition or are taking any medication that may put you or others at risk during the session.
  • Please disclose any relevant medical information to the coach before the session.

5. Liability Waiver

  • By participating, you accept full responsibility for your actions, equipment, and safety during all coaching sessions.
  • DW MTB Coaching, Dan Wagstaff, and associated venues accept no liability for loss, damage, or injury to persons, bikes, or equipment, except in cases of proven negligence.
  • It is strongly advised that all participants have their own personal accident insurance.

6. Consent & Agreement

  • By ticking the acceptance box when booking, you confirm you have read, understood, and agree to these terms and conditions.
  • If booking for a minor, you confirm you are the parent or legal guardian and have the authority to provide consent.

7. Cancellation Policy

By the Client:

  • Clients may cancel or request to change their session up to 48 hours before the scheduled start time. In this case, you may transfer your booking to another available date or receive a full refund.
  • Cancellations or changes made less than 48 hours before the session are non-refundable and non-transferable.
  • All vouchers are non-refundable.

By DW MTB Coaching:

  • Sessions may only be cancelled or rescheduled by DW MTB Coaching in the event of extreme conditions (such as severe weather that makes riding unsafe, e.g., heavy rain or high winds).
  • If DW MTB Coaching cancels a session due to extreme conditions, you will be offered a full refund or the option to transfer to another date.
  • DW MTB Coaching reserves the right to stop any session without refund if false information has been provided by the client that puts anyone at risk.

8. Your Health

By booking onto a course, you are agreeing that, to the best of your knowledge:

  • You are not suffering from any illness or condition that would put you at risk when taking part in physical activity, especially mountain biking.
  • You are not taking any medication that would put your or anyone else’s health at risk during the mountain bike session.
  • Your health and fitness meet the requirements needed to take part in the booked session.
  • Mountain biking is a highly dangerous activity; although we endeavour to keep you safe during the session, we highly recommend each individual takes out their own personal accident insurance before taking part in our course.

By booking a session, you agree to these terms and accept all risks associated with mountain biking and coaching activities.
